Q:  WHAT DOES AN ONLINE CONSULTATION ENTAIL?

A: Online consultations are with Dr. Morrison will give patients who are unable to come to the Scottsdale office, or who are thinking about traveling to the Scottsdale office, a better idea of what specialty contact lens options might be best for them.

Online consultations are held over Zoom and last up to 45 minutes, ensuring patients have enough time to discuss any concerns or improvements they would like to achieve with their vision.

The day prior to your appointment, we will send you a secure link to your meeting. Following your consultation, we'll send you a detailed summary of your consultation to reference throughout your care.

Q:  WHAT DO I NEED TO DO BEFORE THE ONLINE CONSULTATION?

A: Prior to the consultation, Dr. Morrison will need to see your most recent eye exam records, especially types and prescriptions of contact lenses trialed.

To request their records, patients can simply call their providers and request that records be faxed to our office at (480) 454-8746 (in our experience, this usually takes 1-2 weeks). Note that the following information is the most helpful to Dr. Morrison:

- any eye scans or eye imaging

- parameters of contact lenses including prescription, base curve (size), and diameter

- for prosthetic consultations, what manufacturers were used to make lenses for prior orders & any information including color, pupil, and iris sizing (in mm)

- contact lens and glasses prescriptions

If you encounter any obstacles getting records to us, we are happy to request records on your behalf which will require your consent; we will send you a medical records release form as soon as we receive one from your doctor.

Patients Who Have Benefited From
Online Consultations

A patient from out of state reached out due to double vision as a result of uncommon neurological symptoms. During their online consultation, we reviewed their records, made recommendations for specialty health care and referrals to rule out underlying conditions. We recommended a personal friend and specialist more local to the patient who would be able to fabricate a contact lens with the appropriate amount of prism correction. We made the recommendation for amount of prism to be corrected in order to fix their double vision and also specified the way the patient would incorporate a reading glasses prescription as this patient was over 40 years old. For this lens, we were unable to design it from afar and the patient had the option to come see us for treatment. In our Summary Plan we recommended the specialist as well as faxed our recommendations to this specialist for further care.
